2nd IVGA guest lecture in the Archaeological Colloquium
This lecture will present the results of an innovative study that combines the methods of sustainable water management with the rich evidence of ancient Roman urbanism. By focusing on the city of Ostia Antica, this study examines the diverse ways in which ancient Roman people interacted with the different waters around them, and how these particular relationships shaped cities, landscapes, and identities. By building a bridge between ancient and modern water management practices, such studies offer new opportunities for reflecting on the archaeology and history of sustainability.
The lecture will be given in English.
