With globalisation and migration processes increasing, classrooms are becoming more and more diverse - not only culturally, but also linguistically. Many pupils speak two or more languages. Some use a different language at home than at school, some are in the process of learning the country’s official language, some come from multilingual backgrounds. While this linguistic diversity can certainly be a challenge for teachers and pupils alike, it also has high potential for teaching and learning. The first BaTEG Summer School, which took place online on Septemer 23^rd and 24^th, 2021, addressed these challenges and opportunities in a series of lectures and workshops, given by international scholars as well as colleagues from Bamberg, and designed for the needs of future teachers.
