Personalized Hotel Comparisons

This week at PacificVis 2024, we present our full paper on “ViSCitR: Visual Summarization and Comparison of Hotel Reviews”.

The proposed visual interface, ViSCitR, enhances the process of choosing hotels by integrating multiple comparison dimensions such as geographical location, category-specific ratings, rating trends, and summarized review points into an interactive document. The approach also includes a customizable sidebar allowing users to adjust their personal preferences and priorities, which dynamically alters the visual presentation.

While this work constitutes our final contribution to the vgiReports project (part of the VGIscience priority program funded by DFG), we are happy to continue our research toward more localized geographic data stories within theSmart City Bamberginitiative.
