Set up WLAN connection under iOS (eduroam)

Important notes:

  • To access the wireless network of the University of Bamberg, you must have a valid user account (BA number + password).
  • Members of other universities or research institutions that participate in eduroam (DFN roaming) can also use the eduroam network at the University of Bamberg. If the login does not work, please contact your home institution to find out about the specifics of using eduroam.
  • Apple devices must not contain umlauts or ? in the password. If this is the case for you, you can change your password at any time using the following link: www.uni-bamberg.de/its/kennwort/aendern
  • The procedure is the same for older versions of iOS, only the appearance may differ slightly from these instructions.

Attention:

You must use the easyroam app to obtain a stable and secure connection to the WLAN with the SSID eduroam.

 

Setup with easyroam

To download the app, you need an active internet connection, e.g. at the University of Bamberg via the free @BayernWLAN.

Open the AppStore on your iPhone or iPad and enter easyroam in the search field and install the app.

Start the easyroam app and tap on Log in with browser. In the new window, enter Bamberg in the search field and select Otto-Friedrich-Universit?t Bamberg.

Figure 1 shows the search mask for selecting the University of Bamberg.

Log in to the following Shibboleth window with your BA number and the corresponding password. Once you have successfully logged in, click on Install new profile.

Figure 2 shows the start page of the easyroam app.

Tap Confirm in the pop-up window so that the profile can be set up.

Figure 3 shows the confirmation window.

A security window appears, authorise access here.

Figure 4 shows the security window with the Allow marker.

Once the profile has been successfully installed, a new window will appear asking you if you want to connect to eduroam. Tap on Connect here.

Figure 5 shows the prompt asking whether you want to connect to the WLAN (eduroam).

Note!

If you are asked for login information after tapping on Connect, open the easyroam app again, tap on Manage and then on Reinstall.

Alternatively, you can also restart your smartphone if you cannot connect after reinstalling the profile.
