Admission and Enrolment
Formal admissions requirements
- This bachelor’s minor subject does not have limited admissions numbers.
- It is recommended to start your studies in the winter semester.
- The formal admissions requirement is the general university entrance qualification.
- For prospective german students who have a german university entrance qualification, enrolment takes place via the Registrar's Office of the University of Bamberg.
Information for international students
- The degree programme is taught in German. For enrolment and successful study, you need knowledge of German at least at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- Prospective students who have a foreign nationality and a foreign university entrance qualification must apply to the International Office for a Bachelor's degree programme at the University of Bamberg. Our colleagues will evaluate if your application fulfils the required higher education entrance qualification and the respective necessary German language skills.
- Please also clarify the entry and residence regulations that apply to your nationality in advance with the authorities in charge (e.g. German embassies or consulates).

Other requirements
As well as the general university entrance qualification or a qualification recognised as being equivalent, you should be interested in a wide range of cultural topics and have an inquisitive attitude towards analysing and interpreting texts, images and symbols in order to study European Ethnology.
From you, we expect openness towards ‘other’ and ‘unfamiliar’ ways of thinking and living, and a willingness to get actively involved in classes and project work.
